3152 Lingam, 2008

Adellab Konstfack Stockholm / commissioned by Ruudt Peters

Lingams are fertility symbols used in south-east Asia, where the phallus has an opener meaning than only sex. The penis is worshiped in temples as a fertility symbol. For example in Thailand men are wearing penis talismans inside their pants as devotion to fertility. Ruudt Peters has invited more or less 100 artists, architects, designers, around the world to make a lingam as an investigation on the subject and as a state of art upon the over-sexed society. The lingam exhibition will be present from 7 till 13 september 2009 during the symposium in the Konstfack galerie Vita Havet. Stockholm. Afterwords Gallery Rob Koudijs in Amsterdam will present the whole collection of lingams
