CBK Utrecht / Utrecht
The rich history of the building at Maliebaan 42 in which CBK is located, was reason to choose for a modern take on the baroque parterre de broderie; characterized by the division of paths and beds to form an embroidery-like pattern.
Using special heavy duty tiles with small compartments to capture gravel, pathways are made shaped like a botanical pattern. Because these tiles are square, the pattern resembles a pixelated version of the pattern. The pathway connects the entrances of the garden to the greenhouse and the building. The compartments of the tiles are filled with gravel in three different colors giving the garden a detailed floor with indoor quality.
