Childeren help making compost in a cubic meter sized crate, learning the right way of stacking layers of earth, organic waste and garden waste. A top layer of soil is added. By tying strings to the sides of the crate, compartments are made. A range of seeds are sown into these compartments and then watered. After only a couple of weeks various kinds of cabbage, lettuce and flowers are ready for the picking. The cubic meter culture crate shows that one cubic meter of good quality soil is enough to supply a person with vegetables.
