H100 Hafnarfjordur / curated by Hrafnkell Birgisson

Since Iceland has no forests, driftwood has frequently been used as a construction material. This driftwood has turned silver/grey, almost like aluminum. By casting aluminum beams of wood, the studio wants to create a new type of icelandic wood. A series of stools constructed from wood with very simple construction so it will be easy to remove and re-attach planks to have them casted into aluminum. The stool itself will thus serve as the mould. Tubes are casted into the aluminum planks to enable hot water to run through them, using Icelands natural resources and the conductive qualities of aluminum to warm the stools for extra comfort.
