3002 Barsingerhorn, 1998

Konings + Bey / province Noord-Holland, Haarlem

Because of the special relationship between the historical cultural landscape and the urban settlement, the area Barsingerhorn and its surroundings were chosen to get provincial protection in 1994. The province planned to attract more attention for this special landscape by making an information-point. Instead of placing standard information panels the street furniture is being used to inform people. At the tram stop letters on the asphalt tell the story of the old tramline. Wood engravings in the classic garden benches are texts on the village and the landscape. A high seat shows the differences in height in the landscape and a bench in the water serves as a rest place for canoeists of Ice-skaters.
