The textile museum asked the studio to design a tablecloth and matching napkins to be offered to the queen as a gift for her 25 year anniversary. The queens damask reads like a history book about the past 25 years in the Netherlands. Each year of the queens anniversary is marked with a historical event, symbolized by a shield with text, an icon and a date. The embroidery refers to the old custom of embroidering monograms onto damask. Texts meander across the tablecloth like a ribbon. Listing statistics on the Netherlands in 2005., the year in which the damask is offered to the queen.
